Following the Standard Operating Procedures for Benthic Invertebrate Laboratory Analysis and the Great Lakes National Program Office Benthic Macroinvertebrate Laboratory Analysis Standard Operational Procedure, SpecPro analyzes 265 benthic invertebrate samples collected from key Lake Superior location(s) to search for new aquatic invasive species introductions annually.
Only invertebrates belonging to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service taxa of concern are picked and included in the samples (e.g., bivalves, gastropods, amphipods).
SpecPro also provides a comprehensive list of species collected from the annual sampling and a final report.
