About Us

In December 1971, Congress enacted the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA), a historic measure intended to resolve the long-standing issue of aboriginal land claims in Alaska. ANCSA had another purpose: to create a mechanism for economic development in Alaska, particularly in rural areas. It was Congress’s intent that Alaska’s Native people, the Shareholders of private corporations created by the Act, would guide this development. BBNC, one of 12 Native-owned regional corporations created in Alaska by ANCSA, played a key part in the effort to secure passage of the Claims Act.

As a subsidiary of BBNC, SpecPro Sustainment and Environmental (SSE) is in business for our shareholders – the residents of Alaska’s beautiful Bristol Bay Region. Our business along with the work of Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC) sister companies enrich the lives of our shareholders through economic development, employment and educational opportunities, and responsible resource management. BBNC’s Education Foundation alone has awarded over 2,500 higher and vocational education scholarships since 1986 worth more than $3.5 million.

Just as the Native Alaskans strive to preserve lands of their homeland, environmental stewardship is at the heart of our business. That’s why our core competencies include all manner of environmental consulting, remediation, and restoration services – to help our Government reduce its environmental footprint and restore impacted natural resources. With hundreds of credentialed professionals available to respond to any type of requirement, SSE has the capacity to resolve your environmental challenges, enhance the quality of people’s lives, and protect our beautiful nation.
